Never before have we seen four straight sessions with movements of 400 points or more. This an unprecedented 4-day 400 plus stock sell-off, then the market rally, then the sell-off, then another rally has led to many fears in the marketplace. Who is to blame for these wild extremes in the markets? Are the short sellers and flash traders to blame? As a precaution, late in the day regulators in France, Spain, Italy, and Belgium announced that they will ban, what they call, manipulation of the market or short selling of bank stocks.
