Detroit Becomes Largest U.S. City To File For Bankruptcy

The Motor City was not always under water, by the mid-twentieth century one in six working American’s was employed directly or indirectly by the automobile industry. Detroit was the epicenter of the automobile industry. By the 1950s Detroit had become the 5th largest city in the United States. It was home to nearly 2 million people.
