Ed Butowsky’s Financial Career

Ed Butowsky is an internationally recognized expert in the wealth management industry. Ed is known for his unique ability to analyze the current political environment or worldwide current events and explain how it affects investment portfolios.

Ed has been in the financial services industry for more than 25 years and started his career with Morgan Stanley, where he was a Senior Vice President in private wealth management. During his 18-year career there, he became the firm’s top producer nationally, as well as the first advisor to surpass one billion dollars in assets under management. He also was recognized as a member of both the Chairman’s Club and the Equity Club, a distinction reserved for only the top advisors at the Morgan Stanley.

Through his work with professional athletes, Ed was prominently featured in the Sports Illustrated 2009 article, “How (and Why) Athletes Go Broke,” which became one of the most widely read articles in Sports Illustrated history. Additionally, Ed was featured in the film “Broke,” an ESPN 30 for 30 documentary chronicling professional athletes and their monetary experiences based in part from the Sports Illustrated 2009 article.

Ed is a frequent guest speaking about financial world wide current events on CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC, CNBC, Fox Business News, FOX News Channel, Bloomberg TV and China TV, and has made hundreds of appearances on national television. He frequently is seen on “Varney and Co”, “Closing Bell”, “Street Signs”, “Your World w/ Cavuto”, “America Live” with Megyn Kelly, “Willis Report”, “America’s News HQ”, “Taking Stock” with Pimm Fox, TheBlaze TV with Glenn Beck, and “Wilkow!” with Andrew Wilkow. Ed is also regularly heard on radio shows around the country, such as “Mad Dog Radio” and “Bloomberg Radio,” discussing wealth management and worldwide current events relating to finance and investing.

As a leading voice on financial matters, Ed also frequently publishes on FoxBusiness.com. And he was featured as one of seven financial coaches/experts in the first of its kind online reality series, “The Invested Life”, a nine-month series that followed real people facing today’s most common investment concerns and their journey to take control of their finances. Ed has lectured at Yale University, NYU’s Stern School of Business, SMU’s Cox School of Business and speaks around the country to financial advisors on how to properly manage portfolios. Butowsky also is the originator of the CHIP score. The CHIP score is the first metric designed to properly and effectively evaluate and score a portfolio’s strength based on all the elements that affect portfolio performance: rate of return, risk, inflation, taxes, management fees and investment fees. Additionally, Ed created the Chapwood Index, a real cost of living index that attempts to show, on a quarterly basis, a more accurate figure for cost of living increases in the nation’s top 50 major metropolitan areas.
